What is line reference?
A line reference is a visual element that helps provide a reference point or benchmark for comparison. It is typically a straight line that represents a specific value, such as an average, a target, or a historical trend. The line reference can be used to assess how the data in the chart compares to the reference value, helping users to understand whether the data is above or below the expected or desired level. It serves as a visual aid to highlight deviations or trends in the data and provides context for analysis and decision-making.
In Dataflake, you can quickly add line reference to bar chart, line chart or mixed chart. To add reference line to your charts, On the right panel, you can see a list of icons vertically.
Click the “graph" icon, then scroll down to the “Reference line" part. Add value in which you want the line to appear. Don't forget to name the line by filling in the “Label". Style the line by setting width, background color.
Note: You can add more reference line if you wish!
Color scale is a color gradient or color ramp- a visual representation of data values using different colors. It is used to encode numerical or categorical data in a way that allows for easy perception and comparison. Color scales are commonly applied in data visualizations, typically involving assigning colors to specific data ranges or categories. For example, depending on setting, lighter or brighter colors can represent higher values, and darker or duller colors represent lower values. This allows users to quickly identify patterns, trends, and variations in the data.
You can apply color scales in Dataflake for effective communication and understanding of data, as they provide a visual representation that can be easily perceived and interpreted by users.
In the right panel, select “Conditional format"
Next, you create the rule. You can choose single color (when the rule matches your setting, only that field(s) is colored.
If you choose color scale, you should set the rule for fields corresponding with colors.Then click “Save" to complete
In data visualization, a tooltip is a small pop-up or information box that appears when hovering or clicking on a data point or element in a visualization. It provides additional details, context about the specific data point or element being interacted with. Tooltip is particularly useful in interactive data visualizations, as they allow users to explore and interact with the data without overwhelming the screen with excessive information. They provide a way to present additional information on-demand, making the visualization more informative, engaging, and user-friendly.
Tooltip typically contains supplementary information such as the exact value of the data point, labels, descriptions, annotations, or any other relevant information that may not be immediately visible in the visualization. They help users gain more insights into the data and understand specific details without cluttering the main visualization.
Adding a tooltip in Dataflake is so simple. In the style section in the right panel, click the “graph" icon, then scroll down to the “Description" part.
Toggle “show description", then write your description.
If a chart has a tooltip, you can quickly look at the “question mark" icon on the top right corner of a chart, just hover the mouse and you can read the description
