But first, make sure the type of Dashboard you want to build for your stakeholders. If you can't identify the purpose of your Dashboard. You will put your Dashboard into unactionable outcomes. Some articles you can quickly read through to avoid some common mistakes when creating your Dashboard.
To start creating your own Dashboard, you have to create and name a workspace. Then, connect to Data Sources. The next step is writing SQL lines to transform your data. Let focus on what you want to showcase through your chart so that you can develop efficient query.
Tips: Try to get accustomed to your data before you execute query to ensure the correct column that contain the data you want to get
Create your Dataflake Dashboard in a few minutes
Choose a connection. Make sure that you connected to the data source before.
Then, switch to the “Queries” section, click “Add” button to add a new query
Then, write SQL. Don’t forget to name your query to easily recognize.
You can quickly see the schemas and tables
Then click the “next” button.
In the left toolbar of the Dashboard Editor page, click the “Chart” icon, then choose the proper chart you want to create.
Then click on the canvas to drag and draw a chart, this is where your chart appears
Click “Query” icon and you will be directed to the right panel
In the right panel, add your existing query (the query that you created before)
When you finish the query, you move to the “Data” section in the right panel.
Then, drag the available fields into the Dimension that you want to display in your Charts.
Since I chose Scatter chart, I drag the fields to X-axis( X Metric) and Y-axis (Y Metric)
A chart will be shown right away. You can quickly extend the chart to see the full one (because at first, you drag a limited space to land a chart)
Now it’s time to Label and style your Chart using the toolbar positioning underneath. You just need to select the element you want to style in your chart. For example, you can edit the title, axis, graph, legend, etc.
That’s all. Combining relevant Charts and elements such as text, shapes, pictures, and so forth within a page editor, you will form a Dashboard. If you want to quickly create a Dashboard without spending too much time coming up with ideas on which position to put your Chart in the Report editor.
